Doing the right thing feels good. There was a lot of debris wood and small timber that needed cleaning from the forest. We were out mountain biking but when we got back the family needed a helping hand. The process in the forest is simple, well it appears to be, to a towny like me!
Clear storm felled trees. Choose trees to fell which allow the forest to be sustainable – the Pros come in to help Martin with this. When the heavy duty ‘profit’ forestry is completed, there is 
often a large amount of smaller items that can be used to heat the houses in the winter. The farm heating and water is run on solar and wood.
All the wood had to be cut to approximately the same size. This was completed with the traditional ax as well as a high pressure, erm, pressing machine?!? Neither of which you’d want to get your thumbs anywhere near.
So there we have it. Chopping wood to fuel the house and keep the environment clean and sustainable. Sure does feel good.
