- tailored mountain bike holiday -

two riders finishing a climb in Westendorf

Sometimes our guests come from mainland Europe. When this is the case, they often just jump in the car and head over for a few days. As long as we have availabilty we are happy to tailor the mountain bike holiday for shorter or longer stays. Matt and Helena ventured over from the Czech Republic by car with their bikes. Matt riding a really nice full suspension Ironhorse whilst over here.

The weather was on our side, and we notched up a good number of kilometres whilst helping ourselves to the lifts a few times to gain some extra height. Both Matt and Helena were more than happy on the climbs and were telling me about some fun races they have been in, up around the castle near the city of Prague.tailored mountain biking

Helena was a bit nervous on some of the steeper downhills, so we took our time and practised some exercises to gain a bit of confidence. Then it was just a matter of getting the right balance of fun trail and testing trail. No point in losing your confidence before you have even got it.

Many of our tours have options to take hard technical XC sections or bypass this and take an easier route. So we mixed and matched so that both Matt and Helena could enjoy what the Alps had to offer. With larger groups we’d have to go with the group decision of the trails we do through out the day, again tailoring them to get the most out of the days riding so everyone feels happy and safe.

After a longer tour on the first day we mixed things up a bit on day two. Taking the lifts right from the farm, we rode the various routes back to Ellmau, Scheffau and Soell. Towards the end of the day, when the arms and hards were getting more tired, Helena stopped for the day and Matt and I did an extra run.

Thanks Matt and Helena for an enjoyable few days and I hope your new puppy wasn’t too well fed at your folks home!
