Enjoying the slopesEnjoying skiing with guests and friends is great fun. Sometimes I like to just head out by myself off-piste and really attack the slopes. Mostly though it is seeing guests enjoying the slopes that gives me my kicks. When we ski together the guests can just enjoy skiing and not worry about studying the piste map. We’ll make sure that we stop at the best watering holes and explore places that they might not have found by themselves.

Not sure why I’m repeating all this as we’ve jotted down all this and more on our new Up and Downhill winter holidays website.

We had a small group heading out to enjoy the slopes on a foggy morning. The group New guest house barstayed nice and close together, taking in the odd mug of gluhwein on the way. This time of year is fantastic, the half term surge hasn’t started yet, so the slopes and lifts are quiet. There is no need to try to dodge the queues as there are no queues to dodge!

It was great skiing with one of our guests that we’ve skied with on and off for the last six years. Manu actually taught her to ski back in 2002. She was racing around the mountains, taking red runs on as if it Into Scheffauwas second nature (believe me this wasn’t the case a few years back).

We also stopped in at a newly built guest house / bar which was nice. I think it will become a regular for us, as it takes in some quiet slopes and also it is close to the Ellmau toboggan run. One of the many things that is good about the Skiwelt is that because it is so large there is always something new being built, so each year there is something new to explore. Apart from the 279km of pisted routes!
