View to ItterThere was an exciting route finding trip planned for today. Single uplift from Soell, followed by what looked like an interesting trail back down into the valley. The weather was 30 plus degrees today, so I loaded up with water and set off. After a nice cruise downhill followed by a small ascent, it was time to relax on the cable car to the middle station in Soell. One more uphill climb then I rounded the corner to be treated to a beautiful view across the valley.

Found the entry point to the trail that I wanted to explore. Alarm bells Landslide on mountain pathstarted to ring at this point as it looked very unused (apart from cows nearby). Anyway, one of the fun bits of route finding is to see if there is sometime new to enjoy. After slipping in the mud churned up by the cows and avoiding the cow pats I ventured on. The track was fun but the too often I was confronted by fallen trees or stinging nettle patches, but I still carried on in case there was some sweet singletrack later on. Finally, it was the landslide that put a halt to the proceedings. I could see the path continuing across the landslide about 10 metres away, far too dangerous to attempt to cross, as there was a 50 foot drop to the right. So around I turned, back under the fallen trees, through stinging nettles and over the cow pats on a 2km trudge back uphill.

One route to definitely cross off the list! At least the guests on holiday won’t have to find out the hard way as well.
