- mixing with the fly boys -

Time to sleepThe uncanny thing about the Skiwelt is that if you concentrate and study the piste map hard enough there is always something else to do or somewhere else to see. Today our guests were to head off to the far reaches of the Skiwelt.

It’s FunPark time!

The journey over to Westendorf was staged to include a few stops for beer. Probably not the best of ideas judging by Nigel’s ability to fall asleep where ever he sat. Four days of enjoying the night life was starting to take its toll. Nevertheless we weren’t going to miss out of the great snow conditions so ventured onwards to our destination.

It would be a lie if any of us actually thought we were going to dabble in the fun park. Fly boysMaybe it was a heady mix of yesterdays hangover and male bravado (and the ease at which 6 year old kids were taking on the jumps) which gave us all a little confidence.

Take off and mid flight looked almost stylish, landings were more like a C- ‘plenty of room for improvement’. We watched in awe as guys with baggy trousers and €200 goggles were clearing 50ft jumps and all of us decided we were much for adept at consuming beer than trying to break our necks. A perfect landing? So we headed to a traditional alm (mountain hut) and enjoyed erm.. burger and chips!

The whole day wasn’t about just the Fun Park, over in Westendorf there are a plethora of great routes to explore, pistes to conquer and cheeky off piste sections to dabble with. All in all, with the fantastic weather and the jovial banter, today was a day that I think our guests won’t be forgetting in a while. As always there are a load more photos to enjoy on our winter holidays gallery, check out ‘Mike and friends’.
