Hintersteinersee at duskWe planned a ride this afternoon which is one of my favourites, the majority of the climbing is up forest tracks, you need to keep you wits about you, there are stones dotted about, much more fun than a boring road climb. The top of this climb, treats you (or finishes you off) with a steep section of singletrack, you really need to power up, not easy to do after the steady climb you’ve already done. Once, you’ve made it to the top you’ll be treating to a stunning mountain lake called Hintersteinersee. Cold deep turquiose waters and mountain peaks all around. There are many different tracks that we take back into the valley. Today it was a steady, rooty shute that cuts across the mountain side, the tracks criss cross past each other, knowing the best ones that give you the longest downhill fun is what it is all about. However, tip of the day, is to ‘drop your saddle’. Unfortunately I didn’t, a drop over a rooty tree wasn’t as much fun as it should have been as I had to catch my breath and readjust myself! Anyway that being said this was a fun, adrenaine filled two hour loop that always puts a smile on my face.
