Siller-Keat ChairliftWith a load of new yellow stars dotted all over the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental piste map saying NEU! I took the time to go and reccie as much as I could today.    A lot of the development this year has taken place in Soell so it was there that I was headed.    The pistes are really well signposted so if one heads into unknown ‘pisted’ territory it is relatively simple to find your way back to something familiar.  Just remember not to leave it too late, as the lifts generally close around 16:00 – 16:30.

First up what the new Siller-Keat ultra modern heated 6 seater chairlift.  A great improvement on the older lift and whisks you rapidly up the mountain for an easy descent down to HochSoell.   Next up was trying to find the new ‘Funpark’ near Salvenmoos.  Now I know it is early in the season but there was absolutely nothing here, just the same nursery slope, so this was a bit of a disappointment.  Never mind I’ll check back later in the season and see if there any sign of deckchairs, ramps and music in the Salvenmoos area!

Next I headed on over to Hopfgarten and tried out the new 8 seater Gondelbahn – Salvenbahn II.  Again as lifts go this was fantastic, we flew up the mountain to the top of Hohe Salve at a lightning speed.  Hohe Salve is a fantastic place.  The views are incredible and there is a cracking restaurant at the top, next to the chapel.  Check out the new futuristic loos – I’ll say no more!

Time to head back to Scheffau and enjoy the long run down into the valley (check out the video I’ve made over the last couple of times I’ve done the Scheffau abfahrt.  On the way back down I popped past another ‘Funpark’ near Foisching.  Again, not much to write home about, I followed a couple of local kids and all take was to be seen was a couple of jumps that the local school kids have made.  So far if people want to enjoy ‘Funparks’ my suggestion would be to either head over to Westendorf or take a look at the small area in Ellmau.
