It was going to be in the lap of the Gods whether the rain would pass. Since the previous night, there has been a continual downpour. Thankfully around 7am the skies started to clear. The advantages of such a mountainous landscape is that the soil drains relatively quickly.
After a bike check, and a quick introduction to our style of guiding. We cycled off for a quick loop behind the farm. Without knowing peoples riding prowess at all, it is essential to run through this loop. There is a lot to be gained and its a great little warm up as well. Oh, and the bridge coped with it’s first mountain bikers brilliantly!
With a slightly earlier than planned lunch due to threatening looking cloud. We relaxed and enjoyed some good Austrian fare.
Well, Oliver actually had Penne Arrabbiata, but Alex devoured a schnitzel without much problem.
It is one of the best part of guiding to hear or see a grown man yelping and grinning like a small child. Alex was slightly quieter but Oliver was rather vocal of his joy of the trails. Great to see!! A couple of slippery logs made for a quick reality check. Everyone was fine and we tried out some more singletrack trails in the Skiwelt. Loads more mountain biking in the afternoon and a quick stop for some cake. Bliss.
Bikes were washed off from the mud and crud. Then safely locked away over night. Everyone back safely, a bit tired but having enjoyed a great day out in the mountains.
