- a mountain biking mechanic -

Cakes cakes cakesMore mountain biking holiday photos from John.

Simply put we just want to get out there and ride, whether we have one guest or a large group. As you’ve probably guessed this week was just the one rider. A gentleman from Scotland that was a veteran of alpine holidays. Sometimes cross country skiing, sometimes downhill and often mountain biking.

Apart from an early tumble which knocked the confidence a little, coupled with a little weather dodging. The week was spot on with plenty of technical riding and a few challenging climbs. John enjoyed the apple strudel and we reckon we’ve now found a mountain hut serving the largest slice around. Add cream and ice cream and it is a meal in itself. Not bad for €3.

One of the main reasons that I do the job I do (apart from the mountain biking!) is getting to John at speedknow the people we ride with. During the apple strudel sessions, John had a load of funny stories to tell, either about riding in Scotland, the Alps or his exploits as a mechanic. The other thing that is very noticeable is that when there are only two people riding the opportunities for photos are next to none. Which was probably a good thing with John as he turned into a speed demon in front of the lens!

The weather was extremely mixed this week, couple of scorching hot days, a few sunny then overcast days and a full on storm. Cows relaxingWe planned the day off to coincide with the storm and luckily got it right. So the weeks riding was hardly interrupted. We’re looking forward to good snow this winter and then John will be able to enjoy Up and Downhill over the winter season as well. To take in the hundreds of km’s of cross country trails.
